This course surveys the various philosophies and sects of Buddhism beginning with those which developed after the time of the Buddha to those leading up to the Middle Way school of Nagarjuna (Madhyamika) and the wisdom teachings of the Mahayana (the Prajñaparamita).
This course is the second of two six-week courses.

Mary Sullivan began the study and practice of Buddhism in 1993, and soon after became Steve Hagen’s student. In 2000 she received lay ordination from Steve Hagen. She has taught meditation in the Zen tradition at the University of Minnesota’s Boynton Health Service. She became a member of Dharma Field in 1998 and has given talks and taught classes on Buddhist history there.
