Saturday, February 1
11 am–2 pm
Save Saturday, February 1 for “Winter Sowing,” a fun-filled afternoon of playing in the dirt in the comfort of the Dharma Field classroom.
Winter sowing is the process of setting out seeds in old plastic containers and leaving them until they emerge in the spring. The containers act as tiny “greenhouses” protecting the seed from the harsh weather, but allowing enough cold to facilitate natural germination in accord with the returning light.
These containers will be used help prepare for our annual Dharma Field plant sale (Yes, we are going to experiment with growing our own native plant inventory this year.) Participants may also select seeds and create containers for their own gardens (monetary donations will be gratefully accepted). No gardening experience is needed, just a desire to enjoy the moment with others.
